If this "thing" was something you really wanted, why would you ever delay having it? Why would you get in your own way and take steps backwards before deciding to move towards what you want? (It is crazy, right?!)
START NOW. Don't wait for 2015. A day of being hangover will not motivate change. It will most likely lead to more choices that leave you feeling tired, unfulfilled (and maybe bloated or anxious). It will lead to failed resolutions and empty promises (and maybe guilt or embarrassment). Habits need time and attention. They need to be loved on and cultivated and celebrated. They don't need to be put on the back-burner while you make excuses about it being the holidays and binge on crappy cookies someone grabbed at the drug store and brought as a “gift”. Telling yourself that you will try again tomorrow, or next week, or next year isn't fair and it doesn't serve you or your well-being.
Start increasing your consciousness now. Start making smarter, better, empowered decisions now. Begin to lay the foundation for success and change now. Take today to find a simple way to get closer to what you want. Wouldn't it be great if come January you already were doing it?! How awesome would that feel?! Imagine it. Know that it is possible. You are in control. You are capable of saying “no” to what gets in your way and "no" to what holds you back. You have the strength and power to say “YES” to what lights you up, to what makes you feel sexy, to what makes you keep going.
YOU ARE WORTH IT.
